Readme as provide with the original release:

I made this track when I did a shadow experiment. But it turned out nicely so I went and finished it. Took three months.

Pretty slow/fast paced track, not suitable for Phat Slug. I've accepted it, as I've spent too much time on making it work.

All I want is that you guys enjoy this track!

  1. This is a good redux/remix/improvement over the original Rooftop Chase EXCEPT for two parts, which are a straight downgrade to the original:

https://imgur.com/TyzMPa1 The start-finish cut should not exist, it does not exist in the original and it’s just infuriating that it is there, it’s forcing good players to go full risk in order to not lose time and makes weaker players even weaker against the ones that go for it. Unnecessary, stupid cut, and one that would be easy to fix. And no, adding such risk-reward elements (risky advantageous cuts) is not fun nor fair for competing in races, with pickups or without pickups.

https://imgur.com/nUNyf2L this ramp has been swapped with the stairs, effectively making this turn combination trivial and fullspeed, as players can now just go fullspeed and wallbang and go up. In the original the track forced the player to use the brakes and actually aim for the ramp, which requires some skill AND makes it that the outside longer path was actually a viable strat for players to use in races, now in the redux it’s completely irrelevant. That change was unnecessary and it’s a clear streamlining and simplification of the track. Going back as it was in the original would make the track deeper (effectively would add a viable alternative path) and more challenging (in a good way) at the same time.

Everything else, especially the pool section is better here and the track overall is very good, except the two downgrades listed above. I would really welcome changing those 2 things as in the comment.

The reverse version is very tricky to get used to due to a very slippery surface and misleading turns, but when you know the racing line it’s actually very playable.

  2. Quick fix 2021-11-16:
Removed Apple specific metadata files (._*) from the custom folder, which causes file corrupt prompts for macOS RVGL users. It was clearly an oversight from the author, since they’re not supposed to be used by the game.
    Nothing else was changed.
