Citywalker's RC2RL, and inertia from scratch tutorial.
Another piece of information from Citywalker to be preserved, this time on how to make an RC car into an RL car, and also on how to make the RC inertias from scratch.
This time, I’ll let her explain everything in her characteristic long style. So: download, open, read, apply.
Added notes from me: keep in mind that the inertia values additionally seem to depend somewhat on the wheel positions – the longer and wider, the higher the inertia needs to be.
And with special-handling vehicles, the RC2RL method needs varying a bit: to preserve special steering quirks, leave the second inertia as-is; if the entire car is a big quirk, change only the EngineRate – this doesn’t affect the rest of the handling noticeably.
And if anyone wonders - the RC/RL versioning actually makes a lot of sense. Tracks like Wildland, Cliff Mountain, Cliffside Court, Frigid Peaks, Extreme G, RC Dream, SS Route Revolt, etc are definitely not RC tracks.
Have fun :)
Credits: Acclaim for the game, Citywalker for her experiments (got me into this business), me for testing again and reuploading the RC2RL method (obviously), and the lot of you for keeping the game alive. Thanks.
Origin: Taken from Citywalker’s Legacy Stash.
Greetz,
Ato.
RVGL (and really also Re-Volt before that) is essentially two games with a totally different experience: RC cars with weapons and follow camera in Museum and School tracks, and RL cars (EngineRate div 25, Inertias x2.5/x3/x3 and no aerial) without weapons and with FixedLook FALSE cockpit camera in POD and rally style tracks.
Try both, you’ll see.
Greetz,
Ato
