- For most driving, quick tap-steering will turn the car adequately without upsetting it.
- The car is not stable when approaching ramps or landing at an angle. Try to keep straight or at least slow down.
- Brake straight and early before a turn when you need to - the weight transfer of this car will upset it otherwise.
- Two-wheeling doesn't provide any real advantage as of version 2, but is more of a "necessary evil" in some cases.
- The goal of V2 is to make the car more accessible and consistent to play, while retaining the defining characteristic.
- The chassis is a bit more detailed and refined than before, but it still has a very toy-grade appearance when compared to my hobby-grade based vehicles.
- Comes in 3 colors with 2 variants for each color - total 6 skins.
- Update v1.1: Fixed wheel UV mapping, thanks to TT.
- Update v2.0: Completely reworked mesh, textures, parameters. Less punishing to drive than the old one.
- 2023/04/23: Added Piccino+ to downloads. No changes to files.
- Polyphony Digital for the original Gran Turismo 2 model. Extracted from my personal copy of the game.
- Saffron who released the first Daihatsu Midget II conversion. Piccino is entirely my own effort.
- Yun, who playtested the Piccino V1
- TTDriver who has fixed my wheel mesh and added a custom shadow for V1.1
- Many thanks to those on Discord who gave me tips, tricks, and feedback in the build process.
Piccino:
A scale replica of a small utility vehicle. The top-heavy ABS body is ill-suited for the buggy-based chassis underneath.
The Piccino is a comical racer that relies mainly on its peppey 380-size motor and careful driving to get around. The car has very grippy tires that give it excellent handling on most surfaces, but the high grip is offset by a high center-of-gravity and soft suspension that are eager to send the Piccino to its demise. The fastest drivers are those who can brave the car at its limits, even if it means taking corners on two wheels.
Piccino+:
A limited-edition model with comical stabilizers attached to the front axle. While the Piccino+ can still roll over, the active stabilizers keep the car grounded most of the time. Despite the increased stability, it's still important to drive the car vigilantly.
