I'm very addicted to create new tracks on my little "Toys in the Hood" world. I think it's the last track in this area for this time. I don't know what's hidden in the future.

I apprciate your meaning with the small ways like doors or fences. I hope all entrys are okay for a great races with 16 players.
It was a big problem in Toys in the Hood 4 & Desolate District 2.

  1. I love Toys in the Hood tracks and this one is on the same level as TITH 1 and TITH2. Very good and enjoyable track. Good work.

  2. I really liked your Toys in the Hood 4 track, despite the convoluted race line and unintuitive design choices, it was a very solid track to play both in Time Trial and on the online multiplayer scene, and was surprised when out of nowhere you released the fifth installment.

Just got around to play it, first with AI on Singleplayer to see where to go and then did fast laps on Time Trial to see how much time I can squeeze from it, and I didn’t expect a (what I can assume) “shortcut” to just nullify a third of the track for no real reason.
I get that rewarding players for shortcuts is considered a positive thing, but they should be small, consecutive time gains that when pulled off in one go give a big reward at the end of a lap but the cut through the park just makes a third of the map redundant to go on:

    Shortcut in question: https://youtu.be/hRixMrTxEJA
You win overall 2 seconds per lap by just going through there with Pro class cars, and the effect only gets amplified the slower the classes go.

I really like the track, it’s fun and rewarding to pull off and it does fit on a stocklike basis, but it lacks polish in some places, some shadows are very weird compared to the clean lighting in your previous installment, most notably on the grass section at the end of the track. It’s a good track but a bit more polish and rethinking the overall line would help it a lot, and in comparison it’s not really easy to get lost in this one. Cheers.

  3. It’s a great track that encompasses the spirit of TITH very well imo. It’s neat seeing the pathways from TITH4 as well.

Raceline is a bit of mixed bag but by no means bad – on one hand it’s pretty heavily biased as a top speed track (though not as bad as Toys in the Night) with 3 long stretches and generally easy, wide open corners. The final grass chicane in normal direction feels pretty awkward to me – even though it’s a chicane, I feel it breaks up the flow of the track too much. On the otherhand, all the bumpiness and split routes makes it really interesting, particularly with super pros. One big improvement over TITH4 is the raceline is much easier to follow through – the main issue I have with 4 is that the raceline often takes you through detours that are not much less obvious than wide open roads one would instinctively follow. I think 5 can still use some barriers/markers here and there to make the raceline a bit more obvious, but it’s overall a minor nitpick for a track I could “autopilot” after my first 3 laps.

This track has been growing on me since donwloading it. definitely a keeper.

  4. I’m glad to see another TITH style track from you, Chris! I like the ideas you made: a broken window, a tree falling on a fence, road works. But I also really liked the racing line! It’s cool that racer can choose which way to go, and there are a lot of such choices. I didn’t find any disadvantages, considering that this track is based on TITH. The only thing I found when entering the pipe is a UV-Map Error. Very good track! Keep it up! :D
