this is my first re_volt car mod, if you want to make skin check README.txt for more info
little update:
1.improved stretched uv map (still not perfect but much better than the previous)
2.a much better and accurate reference for making custom skin for stingox_crossfire
3.fixed wobbly wheel
4.fixed some glitch parts of the car's body
Not too bad for a newcomer I must admit. Here’s a few things you should consider looking into, to make better cars in the future :)
– Your rims are slightly wobbly. Make sure your wheel mapping is centered properly and the texture also is.
– Experiment with blending modes. The “highlights” around the windows look much better if they’re given a blending mode like Overlay or Soft Light or Glow. Check what your picture editing program has and have some fun with it. For the dark areas use Multiply.
– Parameters might be difficult to learn but don’t be afraid to experiment! Fiddle with wheel values, grips, frictions…
– You can actually export the uv layout in blender without having to resort to a screenshot. In the UV editor, press UVs -> Export UV Layout. It creates a layer you can then import in any graphics program.
– Having a premade paintkit (PSD, XCF, PDN…) with layers helps greatly for skin making.
