So, well, this track is clearly a little more complicated than the first part! Since you really can get hit by cars on easier and you need to get around them normally, and some sharp difficult places appeared, for example, a subway station, to be honest, this location reminded me of the Max Payne game! You also need to be careful with bots on this track, since they can ruin the whole race, as with me when I took 5th place twice in a row, and even 8th! Although on big cars, Artificial intelligence is stupid! and he crashes himself!
The theme of a bustling city had been on G_J and I Spy’s list for a long time, and finally the tracks saw the light of day.
This is a great track! The graphics are consistent and of very high quality, as usual. The racing line is varied and challenging, and despite the track’s length, stays interesting throughout. There are lots of places in the track where there are various possible lines to take, which makes it a lot more fun.
A major feature of the track are the cars driving around. These are not just background details, but actually affect the race. I really enjoy this! They’re not in the way too much, which is good, as the AI wouldn’t know how to deal with that. However, you do need to take their path into account sometimes, if you don’t want to risk getting hit. They also just add a lot of life to the track, of course! Not that the track doesn’t feel alive anyway, with all the little animations, posters, etc… the metro station is one of my favourite parts in this regard.
At the moment the only thing I don’t like about the track is the music, which was taken from the original game but is rather repetitive. But that’s just a matter of taste, I suppose!

Just a few additions to my Downtown 1 review. Graphically the overall quality of Downtown 2 is equal, but other than with Downtown 1 I think some areas could have needed a bit more… I don’t know… polish, maybe? Parts of the alley feels a bit empty, as well parts of the entry to the subway station feels a bit empty as well – or too clean / too bright / with too less shading – I don’t know exactly how to describe. It’s far far (far) away from being bad for sure, it’s just “visible” I think. Also, at this track I was able to find (for the first time at your tracks!) several small mapping and/or texture distortion errors.
Regarding the raceline I personally prefer the Downtown 1 raceline a bit more, but this is just personal flavour, I guess. It’s for sure more complex, but also not that well flowing in general.
However – this is critique on a VERY high level. This track is still a masterpiece, and will get a Re-Volt classic same as any of your other tracks. Can’t wait for your Elementary School tracks, which you already announced a while ago. Hype. :)
This is a great track! Same as for Downtown 1, all the visuals, sounds, environment, objects and cars are great, but in addition, the racing line is actually quite challenging. A couple of turns are somewhat difficult and it is possible to extract some extra time by approaching and doing them better, so there is space to be faster or slower than someone else. Pickups seem to be mostly put in sensible places.
i know for a fact that downtown tracks will be the track of the year 2023.
