This is a very good Lego track. It might be the most satisfying Lego I’ve ever played. The track has good graphics, with a simple theme. It features just two colours: blue and green, but two colours is enough to keep the eyes interested, it appears. The textures don’t tile great, but hey, what do you expect, with a Lego with default mapping? Because of the nature of the textures picked, it’s not too apparent while racing. The track features some instances and objects as extra details, which add a lot without distracting from the race line.
The track is short, which is very welcome. Most Lego tracks are long, many too long, but this one has a great length: races are long enough to be exciting, but when you’ve finished you’re still wanting more. And when you’re frontrunning, it’s nice that it doesn’t take five more minutes to finish the race.
It is not that easy to get frontrunning if you aren’t lucky, as this track is packed with pick-ups, which is very fun for Legos. Lots of action to be had here! The AI nodes unfortunately seem to be unchanged from the default AI nodes, which could be improved upon. However, for regular-sized tracks, they are quite functional, as is apparent here.
And even when you are frontrunning, this track is very fun to race, as the flow is just very satisfying. You will be going at high speeds, as the track is not riddled with bumps, chicanes and pipes. However, there are in fact a lot of obstacles to be tackled, and they come up in rapid succession. The turns are varied and satisfying, and there are two crossroads to allow for some extra interaction with the other cars.
Outstanding track! If the AI had been optimised, this might have become one of my favourites. In any case, I should remember this one.
