Also known as Bez's Flat from the PS1 (possibly European?) version from Test Drive 5.
Special thanks to Flyboy and Dummiesman for texture atlas set up.
Dummiesman did the model extraction conversion, AI/POS nodes, track nodes, AO, light and shadows.
I did the AI adjustment and testing of the track.
RVGL is required
It’s very faithful to Test Drive 5, and it plays similarly enough to the original game when we speak about proportions but you can’t get the wacky physics in Re-Volt, maybe with smart force field usage, but it’s still a nice track to drive around mindlessly or at full speed.
So congrats to Dummiesman for doing everything, the track is very smooth to play on :D.
Upon sight of the track, I was already in love, my favorite secret track in TD5, if it is the only one. Many hours were spent on this track as a kid. Now this translated to RVGL physics and the size…you can tell in that game it was better for two reasons – more airtime and the cars has that increasing momentum, here is near instant. So, for the classes, how does this track fare as far playability goes?
Surprisingly, not too bad. Rookie to Super Pros playable. Rookies to Advanced is the best, above that it gets tricky. But if you learn how to go around this track, that’s actually pretty good! I was gonna suggest, make the track bigger, but if you compare the size of the cars here and how they travel and gameplay videos of the same track in Test Drive 5, it’s actually pretty bang on.
The bonus point here is that the AI doesn’t get stuck in tunnels, like TD5 did. So, this is an upgrade. This is a keeper.
We have the same floor tiles in our kitchen ;-)
