- June Bug has good top speed and decent acceleration offset by a high center of gravity and mediocre cornering speed.
- The vehicle is pretty stable on looser and rougher surfaces. Alternatively, it can be prone to flipping over on asphalt.
- This car shares proportions with burner94's Starefire GT. Go check it out!
- The name is word-play for "dune bug(gy)" as well as a reference to beetles of the Phyllophaga genus.
- This is the first chibi car I modelled.
- The body is based off of a mid-60s Volkswagen Type 1 with US-spec bumpers.
- The default skin is inspired by designs of Class 11 baja racers. The alternate skin is based off of the livery for the Tamiya Monster Beetle.
- The off-road modifications can be toggled off in the paint kit. The "unmodified" Beetle skins are depreciated.
- Special thanks to burner94 for letting me use Starfire GT as both a base model and as a source of inspiration.
- Thanks to yun who gave feedback on the original parameters.
- v1.0.5 - fixed env setting on chassis
- v1.1 - tweaked AI
- v1.2 - tweaked AI again and fixed normals on the spinner.
- v1.3 - fixed normals on body.prm.
- v2.0 - new chassis model, new carbox, and new parameters
- v2.1 - nerfed top speed.
Update v2.1: Nerfed top speed. It still is faster than Marienkafer in every way.
Part of the SD02 line that succeeded the original Starfire GT.
June Bug is inspired by the Class 11 off-roaders used in the Baja 500/1000 and is one of the first releases for the new chibi line. It features soft, long-travel dampers and off-road tires that maximize stability on rough terrain. The high ride height compared to other chibis can be detrimental to its performance on high-grip surfaces.
