Perhaps I misjudged this track initially a little harshly for my own tastes, as it doesn’t exactly fit the best with the Re-Volt themed tracks and what not, but having given it a second chance…perhaps it isn’t as bad as I had thought. And I used Super Pro’s once more, but one car for this one that I figured, I’d have a lot of pain – Quarter.
This track has no right of being this good. Granted, this isn’t a perfect track, but the theme going for it, I like it. Not the best track name though. The waterslide at the start with the toboggan? Fluid. No, seriously, it works. Followed after it, you have a smol water slide into the pool, which isn’t the more fluid landing. Here, the game changes. You do not want to go to the middle, there’s two paths, go right, there’s a ride hanging so you can go through for a pickup, or go slow and around it to not collide with it….or left, you go under a sand bridge and follow the same path. That already makes it fun.
The Net Bridge though, things get a little jankier. At the end there’s a drop and depending how you land and where you land, you might flip so, it gets negative points, but, the Quarter and other cars, it does it like a king. Of course, at the uphill, it toggles to a close cam for you to look up, quite nauseating and distracting but at same time, it doesn’t hinder you. The skate park area is simple, not the most fluid but it works, followed by the court fulla cones and back to the picnic table. Now. Having done a few laps? Is this track playable…?
It ain’t perfect, it may have bugs, that I may not have encountered, but what the hell, this works. It’s definitely above average. Try it, you might be surprised. I sure was.
100% agree with yun here. For its age this is still a great track, also with the issues it has here and there. It’s also quite fun in online multiplayer, in my opinion. There are far worse tracks, so for me personally it’s sad to see the bashing against this track at some places. It’s clearly visible someone put a lot of love into the track, and yes, the setting is like made for RC cars and it just shouts “Re-Volt”. A proper Redux version of this would be really cool – let’s see, I will note it down… ;)
While not exactly the best on terms of tracks in “modern” Re-Volt, this track still holds up strong in my eyes. Nothing defines Re-Volt better than racing your RC cars on a playa (beach) resort of sorts and getting them all soaked up and scratched from running on the wet sands while on your vacation.
For 2004 this track had incredible visuals and has a clear design and idea on what it wanted to promote or convey, although it suffering from questionable pickup placement (the unreachable table at the start being the principal infractor) and an unpolished raceline (track often suffers from micro-bumps because of the level geometry not being alligned very well), really makes you wonder if this could’ve been a track to withstand the test of time.
Playing this on the early days of scouring RVZ for tracks and cars to play on and this being featured in the first ever I/O packs really took a toll on me, wishing for it to hopefully be remastered or revamped, but a man can dream.
Still a decent play if you manage to look past the dated graphics and clunky geometry. Nothing like the good ol’ days, eh?
