Toyeca, Cougar,
Does whatever a Spider-Car,
Spins a tyre, any size,
Catches pickups, just like stars,
Look out!
Here comes the Spider-Car.'
This is what the ancient RC Spider Theme song used to say. But this track's name comes from a specific spider attribute: ability to climb certain walls. I had this idea in mind for a while for Zeino's contest, where I would make a track that is compeletely upside down, and call it Australia. Then I realized the ideas I can achieve with this track, so I decided to create a normal, extreme track instead and the base wouldn't be upside down, but certain parts would and there would be more wall-riding. Using Farce Fields, I was able to achieve just that and most stock cars are able to drive through the whole track. The only known failure is Phat Slug at the moment. The setting is a city with roadworks all around (this is why the cars need to ride walls, mostly to avoid them :)). AI doesn't work here, since they get mad at the wall-riding and the one upside-down part, so I instead utilized AI nodes in a way that people don't get repositioned right onto walls (could have caused some bugs).
Important: this is a pre-release, since I wanted to put the track in for voting for All's Fair 7. Updates will probably be coming, there are a few known issues clarified below.
Features:
- Wall-riding
- Global stars
- Upside-down part
Known issues:
- A random X at the upside down part
- Directions might not be clear enough for new racers in the last corner
- Phat Slug and possibly other cars can't make it (probably unfixable without car specific farce fields)
- AI doesn't work (also unfixable with current RVGL)
Tools used:
- Adobe Photosho, Gimp
- Blender + Marv's plugin
This track is the first and only one of its kind, it seems. But it’s not as cool as I expected. Actually, it’s not very convenient.
Masterpiece, finished the track with Phat Slug 8)
This track is really useful to understand the functionality of force fields.
