This is a short little track taking place at a public outdoor swimming pool area.

Fun fact: If you wonder, why the pools and buildings look this oldschool: The area is based on a place in my hometown, like I remember it from my early 1990's childhood.

I've started working in this track in late 2023 - and now I finally managed to finish it. Yay! Special thanks to the guys who did the shadow baking (Gotolei) and AI node work (Kipy. And very special thanks to Marie - my brothers wife - who painted the skateboard deck designs and all the different flowers you can find on the track.

Some resources are borrowed from Fairground 1 by G_J and I_Spy. The model from the animated Splat-styled plane was made by Xarc.

Thanks for playing my tracks, have fun!

  1. A superb track! I have so much to say, but I’ll try to be brief.

The composition of the thumbnail is a masterpiece. Looks like it’s straight from the stock game.

For the racing experience, I will admit I’m very much a casual player, so with that in mind let’s dive in! (Don’t dive your RC in the deep pool you will sink and respawn)
Kiwi’s tracks tend to have a very open layout, and this one is no exception. It adds a level of difficulty in terms of navigation that doesn’t show up too often in the stock tracks, but with a few laps in practice mode you’ll be able to get a sense of the track.
The raceline is a big improvement in terms of readability from previous tracks. There’s a spot outside the bathrooms where I think I can cut past one of the pillars and I get the dreaded red X though.
Despite plenty of practice laps I still got destroyed by the AI in my first race. Kudos to Kipy, these are mean little cars. I will admit, this is also my first race in months so Dr. Grudge is out of shape. >.>
I’m adding another line here just to praise Kipy’s AI work. It looks like the RC cars are powered by magic, but if you enter the AI Nodes edit mode you can see how much work Kipy put into these guys.
I found the sharp turn before the kiddie pool to be a fun obstacle. A little aggravating when you hit an oil patch, but so satisfying when you can knock your opponent in. The race star location on the slide is great.
Speaking of stars, the practice star location is in a good spot for a medium difficulty track. I won’t spoil the location (sorry to disappoint those of you who can’t find it and are reading through Re-Volt World comments for a hint)

As is the case with Kiwi’s tracks, there’s lots of little details that make me smile. Here are some highlights:
I adore the shark decoration on the bottom of the skateboard.
There’s a little stick figure graffiti that is very cute. They’re saying something I endorse, but I’ll let you find out what.
The swimwear on the clotheslines are a nice callback to Toys in the Hood 2.
I especially like the mud on the concrete by the dirt paths, and the splashes of wetness by the pool where someone jumped in. Good stuff.
I also really like the detail where the base of the 2nd diving board is cracked.
The ice cream vendor looks like they’ve extended their business here (with a new menu, too!).
The launched beach ball and ping pong balls were a very nice touch, adding another level of dynamism to the track. I found myself driving up to the ping pong balls and nudging them around, just for fun. Some things are more important than winning the race.

Kiwi’s tracks are always a real treat. I could write one of those hour-long video essays about Splat! and still have more to say.
To summarize, this a track that really makes you feel like you’re at the poolside on a summer vacation. I look forward to your next track with great anticipation. (But for now I’ll do some more driving around here :) )

  2. Well, well, this track has finally been officially released. To be honest, she’s funny, and the visuals aren’t bad. Unfortunately, I can’t say more than that. Although I won’t argue, I like Kiwi track! In general, it differs slightly from the alpha version. Since the track is almost the same, only the direction of this track is different, although it’s still fun to ride. And by the way, it’s April in Russia, so this track gives me a summer mood! So Kiwi, thank you for creating this good, atmospheric and fun track, I am very grateful to you. Good luck with new tracks!

  3. Beautiful track. Can be a bit cramped and hard to read at parts but very fun.
It could be made more obvious that you can’t cut through the inside of the pillars. I also feel that perhaps adding skid marks on the concrete at the transition to the grass and making the dirt guidelines in the grass darker could help a lot with some of the problems in quickly reading where the track is supposed to go.

  4. I agree, the race line is a little too short for this beautiful place !
The large amount of graphic tiles avoids redundant landscape details and the work with shadows and shadow lights is very impressive. This creates a high quality summer atmosphere overall !
After falling into the pool a few times, I’ve learnt to master the mean corners without getting wet ;-)

  5. Its a very detialed track, but the problem of falling into the pool is kind of bad. The track’s size is small, so you are very likely to fall into the pool. Also, when you are at the forest, if you go a bit too far it shows you an “X” on your screen and you’ll have to reset.

  6. Great track. Visually perfect, the obstacles are placed in nice places that determine your approach to corners and are an integral part of the track layout. Like some of the benches make it impossible to wallbang off the wall behind them, but some of them offer some mini-shortcuts (not necessarily faster) or alternative paths to avoid some zaps, oils, clones, whatever. The alternative paths are here only to make it possible to avoid major action from pickups, they’re not faster, it’s fine. But makes it more difficult to remember the track. I like the mixed surface type on the grass and beaten path, adds a nice dynamic for taking these turns and being alert of the car. The last jump is quite sharp and not equally consistent along it’s entire length, (taking it on the right is better than on the left).

Short but very dynamic, doesn’t make you feel one lap takes only ~23 seconds to complete.

The reverse version is very flowy, although at first it’s extremely confusing on where to go, as flags are not turned in the directions the car should follow, as well as one “sharp right” direction arrow is not present (near the exit of the pool section).
