Yet another car I had in the works since ever, probably even longer than Sneaky. Obviously based on the Chaparral 2J, with some fantasy bits here and there and vague hints at the Tamer from Ridge Racer Type 4. Yes, it only has one fan at the back, but I wanted it to be animated, so there goes... Multiple spinner and >4 wheel support in RVGL when, cough ahem? Anyway, uh, yes, back to the car.

It's a brick. But it's light, and grippy, and fast. Is it even a brick then?

Massive shoutout to Skarma for the parameters and Norfair for that AWESOME vertex shading/model retopping work. Comes with a PSD paintkit.

Mandatory disclaimer after Xarc's observations: any similarities to Mighty's P4 Super are completely coincidental :P

  1. The Washing Machine drives in a really interesting way. Handling feel is on the heavier side, making it kind of a dog to drive at low speeds but taking turns at high speeds makes it feel like fan-car it is. Well balanced, more on the unconventional side; great parameters all around.
Multiple spinner and >4 wheel support in RVGL when indeed.

  2. Not really. The real (full size) car didn’t use the fan for thrust, but rather to suck air from underneath – essentially giving it almost constant downforce regardless of speed, and without the need for a huge spoiler. It used a separate, small engine to run the fan (I think it came from a snowmobile?) but power was still delivered to the rear wheels via a conventional V8 engine.

I’ve seen it attempted on RC cars as well, there’s some mad people out there on YouTube having tried it before on tenth scale cars…

  3. 2J. The Sucker Speeder. It sucks air and blows competition away. The car is so dominant it might as well be banned from competitive play.

  4. I don’t normally go for open cockpit style cars myself but, I’ll open yet another exception. Sucker Punch is one of my favorites cars to come out, despite RWD, as we know with Re-Volt/RVGL, paramizing a RWD car can be fun, but you’ll have obvious weaknesses with slippery surface. This car is no exception.

Like the description states, it has the wheel skirt vibes of the Lizard Tamer, one of my favorite fantasy cars I ever laid eyes on, until I found the Chapparal 2J, the obvious reference for this car. The animated spinner on the back cements that deal.

Just a crime this wasn’t served as a Super Pro car but that’s fine. How does it perform in Pro class? Pretty good. In low speeds, it reminds me of the Hypnosis GT, by Tubers and me, with how it can lose control in very little speeds so, watch out for that.

Love the car, absolutely love, love, LOVE, the car. RWD being bad is a nitpickiness of mine, so yeah.
