Visually it’s not exactly what I’d expect from Wipeout, but the 90s vibe is strong with this one anyway. Vanilla cars don’t gel very well with it though, and using hovercrafts (or UFOs) is a must. Barely any powerups spawning, but they’re not really necessary, since the track flows naturally and offers good racing by itself. Worth giving a shot if you like this kind of esthetics.
Plus, custom HUD. Yummy.
The sequel does fare better in the edginess side of things… Oh wait this is a track not a game. So the flow is fast with fun curves and corners. I am debating why the hell there isn’t more pickups to screw other racers. It would’ve helped. Graphically it barely represents WipeOut 2097 as this is set in space and not a stormy city like Gare d’Europa. Top tip for this track: Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down.
